Stop The Comparisons
July 5th, 2010 by Dave
If there’s one thing I really hate when watching football, it’s hearing the pathetic comparisons to previous tournaments that pundits constantly ram down our throats.
After England’s draw against the USA in our opening game of the tournament we were faced with ‘It’s not all bad news, in 1966 England drew their opening game’ – so bloody what! It’s meaningless. Comparisons like this offer no insight at all into the current tournament. Can we just please stop them now? Are you listening Motson?
Even after England were knocked out they still managed to find a way through to poison my eardrums. On the subject of whether Capello should have stayed or gone I heard the following… ‘England lost all 3 matches in Euro 88 under Bobby Robson and look what happened at the next tournament’
For f*cks sake!!
Stop it. Now.
