Capello To Remain England Manager
The FA today released a statement confirming Fabio Capello will remain as England manager after a disappointing World Cup.
“We are all still extremely disappointed at our performance in South Africa, and we believed it was important that we took some time to reflect on everything in a calm and considered manner back in England. After fully discussing our performance we remain convinced that Fabio is the best man for the job.
He went into the World Cup with a reputation as one of World football’s finest managers and we are confident Fabio will benefit from his first international tournament experience and this will undoubtedly make us all stronger for the Euro 2012 campaign.”
Capello himself said: “I am more determined than ever to succeed with the England team.”

A fair statement.
I do believe if this country is to improve at international level, we must start at grass roots and work up to the top.
What do you think?
I think England had a good enough 23 on paper to do some damage at this tournament. Unfortunately they never came together as a unit and never looked like a team with too many players just not showing club form at international level.
We probably don’t produce enough good players, but the flip side of that is our under 21s and under 17s sides are actually pretty good.
Other arguments are the millionaire culture and lifestyle that our footballers have, but that’s the same for every nation that has a chance of winning the tournament.
Personally, I just think this crop of players weren’t up to it and it’s probably time for a few of the old guard to step aside now and rebuild parts of the team.
