10 minutes from the end of their 5-1 FA cup victory over Oldham, Liverpool found themselves involved in another case of racism as one or some of their fans are alleged to have racially abused Adeyemi from the stands.

Adeyemi was visibly upset by the alleged abuse and it took a number of players to calm him down, including Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard.

Before leaving the ground Adeyemi gave a statement to Merseyside police in which he claims to have been racially abused twice.

Liverpool will be looking to act swiftly to identify the fans at the centre of the new controversy following the condemnation they received after publicly supporting Luis Suarez after the Uruguayan admitted using a racial slur against Manchester United’s Patrice Evra.
