Liverpool Need To Apologise Over Suarez Race Row
January 4th, 2012 by DaveDespite the fact that Luis Suarez was found guilty of using racist abuse towards another player by an independent commission, Liverpool and the guilty Suarez have still both failed to apologise. If it weren’t such a serious case, Liverpool’s stance would be laughable.
Suarez started his ban in the defeat to Manchester City last night as Liverpool opted not to appeal the decision. Curious that Liverpool wouldn’t appeal a decision that they firmly believe is wrong. The message that Liverpool are now sending out to the world is that Liverpool are a club that supports racist abuse.
At no point have the reds, or Suarez ever admitted any guilt despite Suarez admitting using a racist term. The report suggests that Liverpool’s case was very inconsistent from start to finish with Dirk Kuyt and Damien Comolli both changing their initial statements to match that of Suarez.
Liverpool need to wake up and smell the coffee. This isn’t the case to try and make themselves out to be the victim of some kind of campaign against them, not when the cost sends out a pro racism message.
It isn’t too late for both Liverpool and Suarez to make that apology and start to build some bridges. The world is waiting.
