January Transfer Window Bargains

December 27th, 2011 by

As we close in on the start of the the January transfer window managers around the country will be looking to unearth a hidden gem. Unfortunately for those managers, transfers made in January very rarely work out the way they’d like. There are of course exceptions but it’s a dangerous game. Here we take a look at some potentially good buys…

Carlos Tevez

Tevez comes with an equal measure of talent and bad attitude and for that reason he’s a big risk for anyone looking for a proven goal scorer. Fortunately for Tevez, strikers of his calibre are a rare commodity. AC Milan look likely to take a chance on Tevez.

Gary Cahill

Rumours are rife that Cahill has already agreed a deal with Chelsea as Bolton look to cash in on their prize asset. Arsenal and Manchester United will be keeping a close eye on this one.

Luca Modric

Daniel Levy spent his summer ensuring that Spurs kept hold of Modric and the fans will be thanking him for that now, but Spurs are likely to face another window with heightened interest in the midfielder. Could spurs rigid salary cap be the thorn in their side?

Robert Snodgrass

Leeds United midfielder Snodgrass would be a low risk purchase for a club languishing near the bottom end of the Premier League. Snodgrass is comfortable in the Championship, but could he do it in the Premier League?

Wayne Bridge

Recently proved to be the fittest player at Manchester City, Bridge is unlikely to play for City again. A loan spell last season at West Ham did little to interest potential suitors but Bridge was once a very good player.

Dimitar Berbatov

Ferguson just doesn’t seem to trust Berbatov, often leaving him either on the bench or not in the squad at all. No doubt Berbatov is a very talented player though and United don’t seem to have any cash to play with. A decent bid could tempt United to sell the Bulgarian but Berbatov hasn’t made any noises about wanting to leave.
