De Gea’s Time Could Be Up At Old TraffordJanuary 2nd, 2012 by Dave
Manchester United’s some time shot stopper David De Gea could well find himself frozen out of the Manchester United team after his latest blunder against Blackburn Rovers cost his side top spot in the league.
Since joining United for a fee thought to be around £18m, De Gea has made a string of costly mistakes, his latest not necessarily a mistake, more a weakness could see Ferguson drop him to the bench for the match against Newcastle United.
De Gea was found repeatedly flapping at crosses and having little to no command of his own penalty area. Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew would no doubt have taken note of that and would be looking to exploit that weakness when his side face Manchester United on Wednesday evening.
Ferguson does have another option at his disposal in 27 year old goalkeeper Anders Lindergaard. The Danish player has 6 clean sheets to his name in just 7 starts for United and will likely find himself back between the sticks on Wednesday evening as he looks to oust calamity stricken De Gea. Time is running out for the young Spaniard.
