Top 10 Most Hated Football Players

There are certain players that you just love to hate, Robbie Savage was a prime example – He never even seemed like by his own fans, let alone the opposition. Fortunately for Mr Savage, he’s escaped our list as he’s now retired (same applies to Gary Neville)

In no particular order, here are the 10 most hated players in football…

Luis Suarez

When he’s not banned for making racist comments, Suarez can be found appealing every single decision that goes against Liverpool most weekends. Add to that the imaginary red and yellow cards that he carries with him and you’ve got the recipe for a hated player.

John Terry

JT as he likes to be known, has the biggest head in football. After being stripped of the England captaincy, Terry tried to upset the apple cart by planning on telling Capello exactly what he and some of the other senior players thought. Just like in the champions league final, he bottled it.

Joey Barton

Joey could find a fight in a church. Wherever he goes, trouble is sure to follow – Barton has served time in prison for his actions yet he never seems to learn. Last seen watching matches pass him by (like his England chances) in a QPR shirt.

Wayne Rooney

Manchester United’s talisman has a temper shorter than a Claude Makalele pass. Rooney, softly spoken in person struggles to contain himself on the pitch and has had more than his fair share of red cards in his time.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Real Madrid’s poster boy is quite clearly his own biggest fan. The man that got Wayne Rooney sent off for England and then winked to his bench is so self centred that he doesn’t even celebrate goals that he wasn’t involved in.

Mario Balotelli

Italian hot headed striker Balotelli is a walking news story. When he’s not letting fireworks off inside his house he’s struggling to put a training bib on. When asked by a police officer why he was carrying £5,000 in cash, Mario replied “because I am rich”. Fair play Mario.

Carlos Tevez

During his short time in England football mercenary Tevez has upset a number of teams and fans alike. Currently stuck at Manchester City after falling out with boss Roberto Mancini when he refused to be brought on as a substitute against Bayern Munich.

Sergio Busquets

Barcelona’s resident diving champion Busquets is actually a pretty good player, you wouldn’t know it though from the amount of time he spends trying to cheat. It’s clearly not enough to be playing for the best league side in the world, Busquets wants to win every decision, never mind every match.

Lee Cattermole

If your team has played against Sunderland in the last couple of seasons then one of your players will no doubt have been on the receiving end of a Cattermole challenge. Cattermole makes Paul Scholes look like a grand master of tackling.

El Hadji Diouf

If you’re looking for a player to spit on the fans or possibly on the opposing team, Diouf is the man. Even spat on an 11 year old boy. Enough said.
